Associated Press UPTON, Wyo. (AP) A test plant in tiny Upton, Wyoming, is at the forefront of an effort to turn trees, waste wood and other plants into fuel. KL Energy of Rapid City, South Dakota, hopes to to create jobs and protect the environment. North Dakota State University economist Cole Gustafson says projects like KL Energy's are "clearly the future of the industry." Valley City, N.D. (AP) The search continues for a woman believed to have drowned in Lake Ashtabula northwest of Valley City. Barnes County authorities say 21-year old Andrea Rose Arbuckle jumped into the lake to swim early Friday morning. Dickinson, N.D. (AP) Eighty-four-year-old Ed Lothspeich of Dickinson and his eight brothers served in the military, and the National Guard has honored them with a special medal. The family originally settled in the northeastern North Dakota town of Wales. Ed's son, Pat, says he's proud of the military connection. (AP) The federal government is sending nearly $2.5 million to North Dakota's largest city for improvements to its public transit system. Fargo plans to use the money for seven new buses, including one for people with disabilities and one for senior citizens. Several new passenger shelters will also be built. FARGO, N.D. (AP) Fargo officials are working on reseeding and repairing parks and Golf courses that were damaged by Red River Flooding. The Park District's Jim Larson estimates the city lost about $450,000 in revenue, and it's spending about $600,000 on contractors, supplies and labor. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
