Here is the latest Montana news from The Associated Press

Missoula, Mont. (AP) An 8-year-old Missoula area girl has been fatally shocked and two other children have been hurt while watching a fireworks show Saturday night from the roof of a Missoula church. Missoula County Sheriff Mike McMeekin says the girl climbed onto some air conditioning equipment. Two children attempted to pull the girl away, and were themselves injured.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) A Billings man was struck in the forehead and killed by a bolt of lightning while at a park Saturday. His brother says 26-year-old Blake Harmon and other family members were running to take cover from a sudden storm when he was hit at about 7:00 Saturday night at Castle Rock Park in Billings. Officials believe the lightning exited from a wagon he was pulling.

LAME DEER, Mont. (AP) Montana officials are on track to seek bids this fall to mine a massive reserve of state-owned coal near the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. Supporters of mining at the Otter Creek reserve say it could bring hundreds of jobs to the impoverished Northern Cheyenne.

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) The director of the Flathead County Animal Shelter says there's been a "phenomenal" response from people eager to help with 41 huskies rescued from filthy conditions late last month. Shelter director Kirsten Holland says they've had dozens of phone calls and e-mails from people wanting to adopt, donate or volunteer help to care for the dogs.
