MCA honors spring sports coaches

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) The Montana Coaches Association has named its coaches of the year for spring sports.

The boys' track and field coaches of the year are Rob Stanton of Billings West in Class AA, Spencer Huls of Corvallis in Class A, Ed Royce of Manhattan in Class B and Justin Helvik of Harlowton in Class C.

The girls' track and field coaches honored are Tom Roberts of Butte, Don Samuelson of Belgrade, Tad Schye of Malta and Roy Lackner of Big Sandy.

Julie Jones of Missoula Loyola was the Class B boys' Golf coach of the year while Jeff Strickland of Three Forks was the Class B girls' golf coach of the year. Gregg Wasson of Harlowton/Judith Gap was honored as the Class B boys' and girls' golf coach of the year.

Under the association's special sports category, Cut Bank tennis coach Jim Gregg of Cut Bank was named the boys' special sports coach of the year, while Stillwater softball coach John Smith was named the girls' special sports coach of the year.
