Associated Press SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) The economic downturn isn't keeping South Dakotans from repaying loans. Credit analysis firm TransUnion says the state's delinquency rates on credit card, mortgage and auto loans are among the nation's lowest. Bank executives say state residents generally don't borrow more than they can afford and have a strong ethic to repay on time. CONDE, S.D. (AP) Voters in the Conde area will decide next month whether to create a fire district with taxing authority. Doing so would allow the volunteer fire department in Conde to fund itself. Currently, seven townships and the towns of Conde and Verdon support the fire department. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) Results of a nationwide survey on hunger in South Dakota and elsewhere are being compiled for release later this year. Kay Torney with Community Food Banks of South Dakota says the survey should reveal whether all parts of the state are being adequately served, or if changes are needed. PIERRE, S.D. (AP) The final step in a three-step process to raise South Dakota's Minimum Wage takes effect Friday. The miniumum wage will rise to $7.25, after a 70-cent increase.
