Devils Lake, N.D. (AP) A St. Michael mother is charged with child neglect after Ramsey County law enforcement officers said they stopped her for driving under the influence and learned she had left her 2-year-old son home alone.

Twenty-one-year-old Demi Butts is to be arraigned Thursday in Devils Lake.

Court documents say an officer went to Butts' apartment after the traffic stop on June 20 and found a child crying, screaming and pounding on the door.

Butts also was charged with DUI, a misdemeanor.
