Standoff ends peacefully in Oakes, ND

OAKES, N.D. (AP) An Oakes man is in custody after a standoff with police that lasted for more than nine hours.

Oakes Police Chief Mark Roberts says 36-year-old Francisco "Frank" Castro was arrested Sunday afternoon after talking with negotiators. Neither Castro nor the three children he had locked up with him inside the house were injured.

Police were called to the home around 6 a.m. Sunday because Castro was locked inside the home with three children.
