(AP) Federal officials have released their final environmental impact statement on a proposed Fort Berthold reservation oil refinery, saying they prefer having a wastewater treatment plant built at the refinery site near Makoti. Officials of the Three Affiliated Tribes are seeking approval for a 13,000-barrel refinery to process Canadian crude oil.

Nineteen-year-old Lane Olson is being held in the Stutsman County jail on $2,000 bail. Court documents say Olson had sex with three acquaintances, who later went to police.

John Hoeven's attorney says the designation puts too many restrictions on the area, including plans for a new Little Missouri River bridge.

(AP) Archaeologists studying the remains of an ancient hearth fire unearthed by flooding at the Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site say it isn't as old as they had hoped. The remains found on the Knife River bank date to sometime between 1300 and 1430 A.D. That's not old enough to tell more about a buried village evidenced by earlier digs.
