Bucs claim 2 off waivers; fill out practice squadSep 6 2009 8:39PM
Associated Press TAMPA, Fla. (AP) The Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed defensive end Maurice Evans and cornerback William Middleton off waivers and re-signed seven players who were with the team during training camp to the practice squad. The moves Sunday came a day after Evans was cut by the New York Giants and Middleton was released by the Atlanta Falcons. They fill two openings on the active roster, which was trimmed to 51 players on Saturday. Cornerback Kyle Arrington, receiver Patrick Carter, defensive tackle Rashaad Duncan, running back Kareem Huggins, tackle James Lee, tight end Ryan Purvis and receiver Mario Urrutia were signed to the practice squad. All of the players had been released by the Bucs on Saturday. The club has one remaining spot to fill on the practice squad. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
