They're being administered by USDA Rural Development's Water and Environmental Program. The USDA says the 150,000 gallon elevated water tower and PVC pipe system will reduce water loss, provide more accurate control, provide backup power in emergency situations and increase pressure to the entire system. DEFAULT JUDGMENT Damages upheld for woman kicked out of apartment PIERRE, S.D. (AP) The South Dakota Supreme Court says a Rapid City apartment owner waited too long to defend itself against a lawsuit filed by a woman who was kicked out of her apartment in 2002. In a split decision, the high court upheld a circuit judge's ruling that Barker & Little Inc. owes more than $24,000 in damages to Laura Peters. Peters alleged she paid her share of the rent, but was locked out of the apartment in September 2002. She said the company took her possessions and caused her humiliation and emotional distress. A judge in 2003 said he would set aside an initial default judgment, but the company never prepared a written order. The company did not return to court to set aside the default judgment until 5 years later. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 09-08-09 1101CDT |
