Minn. man charged with killing toddler at churchSep 8 2009 1:54PM
Associated Press wheatON, Minn. (AP) One man has been charged with murder and another with assault in a baseball bat attack at a western Minnesota church that left a 14-month-old girl dead. Bail was set Tuesday at $750,000 for David Collins, who was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of second-degree assault. Prosecutors also charged Darryl Kennedy with one count of second-degree assault. His bail was set at $100,000. Authorities say Collins tried to attack Claude Hankins with a bat inside the church in Wheaton but struck Hankins' daughter instead. The complaint says Collins and Hankins had argued over $20 that Collins owed Hankins, and over how a washer and dryer in Collins' home would be transferred to Hankins.
