Associated Press PIERRE, S.D. (AP) Corson County employees plan to move into their new courthouse October 19th. An arsonist burned down the former courthouse in McIntosh in April 2006, destroying the 1910 building. The new courthouse will house the treasurer's office and offices for the county auditor, assessor, state's attorney, Extension office and the courtroom. PIERRE, S.D. (AP) The new Conservation Stewardship Program's first signup period ends Sept. 30. The program encourages farmers and ranchers to deal with conservation in a comprehensive manner. It's run by the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service. BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) In Brookings, police now carry Tasers. On-duty officers have started carrying the units that cost about $850 each. Police Chief Jeff Miller says each officer has gone through training, which includes getting zapped themselves. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) In federal lawsuit, a judge has sided with First National Bank in Sioux Falls, a South Dakota bank that's been in downtown Sioux Falls for more than a century. The judge also placed limits on an out-of-state bank with a similar name. The judge barred the Nebraska-owned First National Bank South Dakota from using "First National," "First National Bank," and "The First National Bank in Sioux Falls" and must use only its full name.
