Job Corps Students Headed to DCSep 21 2009 7:23PM
KXMCTV Minot The three will shadow their members of Congress as part of Job Corps 45th Anniversary Celebration. Two students training to be welders, Audra Carry Moccassin of Bismarck and Samuel Azure of Rolla, were chosen to be part of the program after showing strong leadership skills and interviewing with Job Corps supervisors. Along with Facilities Maintenance student trainee Eugene Peterchuk, Moccassin and Azure will participate in a one-day internship with Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Congressman Earl Pomeroy. Center Director Dave Ellingson says this will be a window for the students into how politics work. (Dave Ellingson / Center Director) "I think just the fact that they get to see how the government works and experience the nation's Capitol is a huge benefit for them. None of them have been there, I think one of them, it's his first time flying, so a lot of new experiences." More than 60 Job Corps students from around the country will represent their programs on Capitol Hill next week.
