Robber in Puerto Rico makes off with Swiss watchesSep 22 2009 4:06PM
Associated Press SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) Police say a robber has made off with nearly $500,000 worth of luxury watches from a jewelry store at the Caribbean's largest shopping mall. Investigators say the suspect entered the Bared jewelry store at the Plaza Las Americas mall in San Juan on Tuesday and handed the shopkeeper a threatening note. He demanded all the watches in the display cases. The robber allegedly took 47 Rolex watches and eight other exclusive Swiss-made timepieces. The heist was the second time in less than a week that a robbery has been staged at a Bared store on the U.S. island. On Saturday, a gunman grabbed $46,000 worth of goods at the Puerto Rican company's shop at a Rio Grande resort. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 09-22-09 1557CDT |
