Associated Press EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) Duane Bennett ran for a career-high three touchdowns, and Adam Weber threw for two more to lead Minnesota to a 35-24 victory over Northwestern yesterday. The Golden Gophers (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) led most of the way and took the league opener after losing in the final seconds to Northwestern (2-2, 0-1) the previous two years. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The Minnesota Timberwolves have promoted Fred Hoiberg to vice president of Basketball operations. He's been an assistant general manager for the past three seasons.
