Building blown down in MottSep 30 2009 7:56AM
Associated Press MOTT, N.D. (AP) A contractor estimates damage at up to $200,000 after an agronomy building under construction in the southwestern North Dakota town of Mott was blown down. Winds in the area Sunday were estimated at up to 70 mph. No injuries were reported in the collapse but contractor Jim Zimmerman says a subcontractor who realized the building was in jeopardy went in to get a piece of equipment and barely made it back out. The building is being built for Mott Equity Exchange on the site of an old grain elevator. Construction started five weeks ago and was to wrap up in late November. Part of the building remained standing after the collapse, but Zimmerman describes the situation as "a mess."
