BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) Volunteers will be allowed to kill and keep some of the meat from an overpopulated elk herd at North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It's part of an Agreement between state officials and the National Park Service, ending a long dispute over how to deal with the bloated elk herd.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) The Montana Agricultural Department was able to recover nearly $1.2 million that the struggling oilseed company Sustainable Systems owed farmers in Montana and North Dakota. The department plans to meet with growers groups over the fall and winter to discuss the possibility of starting an indemnity fund or other safeguards for growers.

Wahpeton, N.D. (AP) The Highway Patrol has identified the victims of a crash yesterday involving two cars and a sugar beet truck in Wahpeton. Among them was 18-year-old Antoinette Gjesdal of Wahpeton, who died in the crash. She was driving a car that was struck by the truck.

A 32-year-old Jacksonville, Fla., man and a 22-year-old Poland man face charges of delivering to minors after police say they bought alcohol for young people who approached them near a liquor store.
