Broadway-Type Show at HostfestOct 1 2009 8:26PM
KXMCTV Minot It's in the form of a musical-comedy on stage at the new hall. It's called Church Basement Ladies and it's a 2-and-a-half hour show filled with music, comedy, and insight on what goes on in the basement kitchens of churches around the nation. The play has been on stage for more than two years in Minneapolis, and has toured the region as well. Its star is William Christopher, who starred as a priest in the TV series MASH for 11 years. In Church Basement Ladies, Christopher plays the role of the church pastor. (William Christopher, "Church Basement Ladies")"After MASH I had a chance to start working more on the stage and I love it. It's wonderful to have that relationship with the audience. "Church Basement Ladies" came along and it looked a little like Father Mulcahy all over again. I've still got the collar and I'm still a pastor and I feel mighty at home, but I get to sing and Dance in this show." Other actors in the show say it's been great fun portraying such a well-known piece of Americana. (Katherine Proctor, "Church Basement Ladies")"It's amazing to talk to people after the show and they'll say, oh you remind me of this person in my church or I remember when this happened, and it's really great to be able to bring that to people." FULL CG You can catch Church Basement Ladies tomorrow and Saturday at 1 and 7 on the Hostfest Theater stage at the new hall here at the Hostfest.
