Associated Press Washington (AP) President Barack Obama will donate the $1.4 million cash award that comes with the Nobel Peace Prize to charity. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says it's likely that more than one charity will share the windfall. He says the president hasn't yet decided which charities will benefit from the award, announced early this morning. JERUSALEM (AP) Israel's prime minister is among those congratulating President Barack Obama on his Nobel Peace Prize. Benjamin Netanyahu says he looks forward to working closely with Obama to "advance peace." But a Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip says unless U.S. policies toward the Palestinians are changed, the peace prize won't move the process in either direction. WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama is urging Congress to create a new consumer agency to protect Americans against financial abuses. He says it would "look out for the financial interests of ordinary Americans." Obama first asked Congress to create the agency in June, but the proposal has been met with resistance from the banking industry and some lawmakers. SHOSHONE, Idaho (AP) A jury in Idaho is now considering the involuntary manslaughter charge against Robert Aragon. He's accused of letting his 11-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son walk about 10 miles to their mother's house after his car got stuck in a snow drift. The girl died of hypothermia. The boy survived. LEBANON, Pa. (AP) Authorities say a Pennsylvania mother who became a gun-rights advocate was fatally shot by her husband while she was on a video chat with a friend. They say Meleanie Hain was shot several times Wednesday in her kitchen by her husband, who later killed himself. She had become a voice against gun control last year when she fought for the right to carry a holstered pistol at her 5-year-old's Soccer games. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
