Regent woman picked to suceed ND state senatorOct 9 2009 4:06PM
Associated Press Terryl (TER'-uhl) Jacobs will serve out the remainder of Krauter's term. Krauter would have been up for re-election next year in the southwestern North Dakota district. Jacobs is a Democrat. She says she'll decide next spring whether to run for a full four-year term. Krauter resigned his seat after he was appointed as the North Dakota director of the federal Farm Service Agency. The agency is part of the U.S. Agriculture Department and administers federal farm programs. If someone resigns from the North Dakota Legislature, state law allows local activists from the incumbent's political party to name a replacement. Jacobs will represent District 31. It includes Grant and Sioux counties and parts of Morton and Hettinger counties in southwestern North Dakota. Jacobs is 51 years old. She works as a crop insurance adjuster, and she is on the board of directors of the Slope Electric Cooperative of New England. She served on the Mott-Regent school board from 2003 to 2006..
