Associated Press Bismarck, N.D. (AP) A Northern Plains Heritage Area is being considered under a program approved by Congress. Bismarck attorney Sarah Vogel says the new area will include historic sites near the Missouri River, Burleigh, McLean, Mercer, Morton and Oliver counties. She says residents are invited to help develop a management plan to present to the federal Interior Secretary in three years. Vogel said a series of public meetings will be held to discuss the designation, starting with Monday night's meeting at the Bismarck Library. Vogel is the president of the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation, which is coordinating the effort. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 10-12-09 0601CDT |
