Icy roads lead to ND crashes and deathOct 12 2009 11:40AM
Associated Press Bismarck, N.D. (AP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol says snow and ice were factors in a crash on Interstate 94 that killed a Wyoming man. The Highway Patrol did not immediately identify the 56-year-old man from Cody, Wyo., who was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by another Cody man. The pickup went out of control and rolled about 6:15 a.m. Monday in Burleigh County, between Bismarck and Steele. Icy roads made the drive to work difficult for many North Dakotans. In Bismarck, police recorded 38 crashes from 7:15 a.m. to about 9:30 a.m. Monday. No serious injuries were reported. In Fargo, light snow made bridges and overpasses slippery. The Highway Patrol reported eight crashes, including three rollovers, between 6 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. on Interstates 29 and 94 in Fargo and West Fargo. The patrol said no one was seriously hurt. Authorities are advising people to slow down. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 10-12-09 1134CDT |
