BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) NATO officials have been signaling that they won't ask their own nations to send more troops to Afghanistan until the Obama administration decides whether it will.

But they're unlikely to get an answer from Defense Secretary Robert Gates at today's NATO meeting in Slovakia.

Gates says he's pushing the allies to deliver more economic and security aid to Afghanistan. He also says he hasn't decided yet whether to back Gen. Stanley McChrystal's request for more troops.

McChrystal will be making his own case before the meeting today.

There's also word that two NATO members have told alliance members that they won't be willing to send new troops to Afghanistan until the Nov. 7 presidential runoff election.
