NJ town grieves for slain priest, accused janitorOct 25 2009 12:36PM
Associated Press A longtime church janitor, Jose Feliciano, is charged with killing the Rev. Ed Hinds (hynz) with a kitchen knife. The Rev. Owen Moran, who celebrated the morning Mass, is calling the death a tragedy for the community, for Hinds' family and for the Feliciano family. A prosecutor tells CNN the two men were arguing over "Feliciano's continued employment." He says Hinds had dialed 911 from his cell phone to report the attack, but the call was cut off. When the operator called back, he says Feliciano answered and said "everything's fine." The operator wasn't able to send authorities because the call couldn't be traced. One parishioner calls Feliciano a "nice guy," and says he's "the last person" he would have suspected. % |
