Dawson to honor to slain UConn football playerOct 29 2009 2:42PM
Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) Undefeated light heavyweight Chad Dawson will honor slain Connecticut Football player Jasper Howard when he fights Glen Johnson next week in Hartford, Conn. Dawson was born in South Carolina but resides in New Haven, an hour's drive from the UConn campus in Storrs. Dawson plans to wear Howard's No. 6 on his trunks and contacted the Huskies about wearing his jersey into the XL Center. Howard was fatally stabbed outside a university-sanctioned Dance early Oct. 18. The fight against Johnson on Nov. 7 is a rematch of an entertaining slugfest that Dawson won by unanimous decision in April 2008. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
