Former Manvel resident has idea for townOct 31 2009 5:16PM
Associated Press MANVEL, N.D. (AP) A former resident of the northeastern North Dakota town of Manvel wants to turn the community into "the best antique town" in North Dakota. Some wonder what it will cost. Phoenix resident Diane Hoverson's "Manvel Matters" idea includes a four-building antique village, a spruced-up main street, a farmers market and an RV park. Manvel is on Interstate 29 north of Grand Forks, and Hoverson thinks an antique theme will draw people to the community of 370 people. Manvel American Legion Auxiliary President Bernice Kvasager says she wonders whether the idea is affordable and who might get stuck with the bill if the idea doesn't work. Hoverson says not everything in the two-year plan costs money and aspects that do could be funded through private investments and grant money.
