Here is the latest Montana news from The Associated Press...Nov 2 2009 2:41AM
Associated Press HELENA, Mont. (AP) Montana officials say federal stimulus spending has created or saved more than 4,100 jobs in the state so far. Most of the jobs are in education and government. State officials caution that the federal calculation does not paint a true picture of job growth and future reports may show fewer jobs. BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) Republican U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg says he agrees with about 80 percent of the language in the health care reform proposal but he's against the so-called public option. He told about 500 people at Montana State University Billings over the weekend that there's no reason to "replace health insurance bureaucrats with government bureaucrats." BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) The Bozeman City Commission is considering whether city decision makers should be required to disclose details about their finances. Advocates want officials to report such items as stock holdings and vacation properties to make sure they aren't voting based on personal financial interests. The commission plans to take up the issue Monday. BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) A Yellowstone National Park biologist says the killing of two collared wolves will hurt a study of wolf pack dynamics. A 7-year-old alpha female and her collared 2-year-old daughter were killed during hunting season, meaning the pack's movements are no longer being tracked. The pack's alpha male and a 5-month-old pup were also shot. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 11-02-09 0231CST |
