Candy maker to cut 175 jobs in MinnesotaNov 5 2009 7:57PM
Associated Press ROUND LAKE, Minn. (AP) Farley's & Sathers Candy Co., makers of JujyFruits and Now and Later taffy, says it will eliminate about 175 jobs from its headquarters and packaging facility in Round Lake. The announcement was made to employees during a company-wide meeting Thursday afternoon. The job cuts will happen in the first quarter of 2010. The layoffs are the result of the company's decision to relocate its packaging, warehousing and fleet operations to facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Dallas, Texas. In addition to the elimination of jobs in those three areas, six employees in the corporate offices will also lose their jobs. After the cuts, about 150 employees remain in Round Lake, which is just southeast of Worthington.
