ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) Fields in northeastern South Dakota are so muddy that even the equipment being sent in to pull out stuck farm machinery ends up getting mired in the mud as well.

As a result, area farmers say they haven't harvested much of their soybean stands yet and the Corn harvest has barely gotten started.

Mark Rosenberg, the Extension educator for Spink, Hand and Beadle counties, says the last few days of sunshine have helped a lot. He says higher temperatures have helped cut the moisture content in Soybeans.

The National Weather Service says October was one of the wettest and coldest in history. Aberdeen got 4.3 inches of rain last month on the heels of 4.4 inches in September.
