MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) A 20-year-old man accused in the killing of a South Dakota teenager is being held without bail. Alexander Salgado made his first appearance in court Friday in the slaying of 16-year-old Jasmine Guevara. She went missing this week from her home in Mitchell.

FORT PIERRE, S.D. (AP) The newest member of the Stanley County School Board wants to improve academics, expand access to extracurricular activities and balance the budget.

Seventeen-year-old Seth Lopour joined the Stanley County School Board as a nonvoting student representative this past week after the board's five elected members approved a proposal to create the position.
