Rugby FFA One of the BestNov 20 2009 7:17PM
KXMCTV Minot Perry Olson takes us there where the program continues to be a glowing success...even as numbers may be dropping off. It has already been quite a year for Rugby's FFA chapter... (Jason Mongeon - Rugby FFA Asst. Advisor) "We have a really strong group evidenced by the success that we have had." (Jacey Shively - Rugby Chapter Vice-President) "We've been doing really well. We have a bunch of dedicated members and a good officers and we have been putting a lot of effort in." The fall season is done and the hardware collected by this group including some state champions is the envy of the state... (Jason Mongeon - Rugby FFA Asst. Advisor) "The kids are excited. Every year we have goals and they want to best the group before them. Not in a negative way, but in a positive way they want to see the Rugby name maintained." That has been the case so far this year. Even as numbers decline the interest in FFA in Rugby grows... (Jason Mongeon - Rugby FFA Asst. Advisor) "As a percentage of our student body we see a higher percent than ever before. We had a meeting the other day and saw we have a higher percentage. Fewer kids in high school but we aren't seeing drops in the ag enrollment." Maybe that is the case because of the success stories members can tell...like Zachary...who joined after a wrestling accident changed his high school plans... (Zachary Rameden - Rugby Chapter President) "FFA gave me a place to go and when I got here it just changed who I was. I have made friends from all over the state and country and have developed leadership skills that I will take with me for my entire life." That is a success story that will no doubt be repeated for years to come here... (Jason Mongeon - Rugby FFA Asst. Advisor) "The talent is there...we just have to harnass it." This program just gets better with age. Perry Olson, KX News. Mongeon (Mo-John) says the winter season should be successful as well with lots of talent back for another season.
