Titans beat Texans.....Big Ben update...NL MVP award due

HOUSTON (AP) Tennessee's Rob Bironas (bih-ROH'-nihs) connected on a 53-yard field goal with less than a minute to go and the Titans beat Houston's Texans 20-17. The Texans had a chance to tie it, but Kris Brown's 49-yard field goal attempt with 1 second remaining missed the mark.

PITTSBURGH (AP) The playing status of Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (RAWTH'-lihs-bur-gur) remains uncertain. He faces more tests as the team is concerned he may have suffered a concussion in Sunday's game against Kansas City.

NEW YORK (AP) The National League Most Valuable Player award is the last one to be handed out by the Baseball Writers of America. The front-runner is St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols (POO'-hohls). He's won the award two of the last four years and is coming of a season in which he hit .327 with 47 home runs and 135 runs batted in. Other contenders are Prince Fielder of Milwaukee and Hanley Ramirez of the Marlins.

NEW YORK (AP) Minnesota's Joe Mauer was named the American League's Most Valuable Player. He was given 27 of the 28 first-place votes to become just the second catcher in 33 years to win the award.

UNDATED (AP) The weekly Associated Press men's Basketball Poll features the Kansas Jayhawks in the No. 1 spot. They are followed in this week's poll by Michigan State, Texas, Villanova and Kentucky.
