ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Number 22 Minnesota has earned its first win away from home this season. The Golden Gophers converted 12 of 18 free throws in the last three minutes and improved to 4-0 yesterday by defeating Number 12 Butler 82-73 in the first round of the 76 Classic. Damian Johnson led the way with 18 points, and Colton Iverson finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

UNDATED (AP) The Minnesota Wild host the Colorado Avalanche this afternoon. The Wild are coming off a loss to the Boston Bruins. They were playing that game Wednesday without five key players. Brent Burns, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Petr Sykora were out with concussions. Martin Havlat missed time with a hamstring injury, and Antti Miettinen was feeling ill.

UNDATED (AP) The Minnesota Timberwolves are two away from the franchise record of 16 consecutive losses. They'll try to break that trend tonight against the visiting Phoenix Suns. The Timberwolves are allowing an average of about 104 points a game, while the Suns have been scoring a league-high of about 111 points per game.
