11A football champ Milbank has 2 AllStatersNov 30 2009 9:13AM
Associated Press WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) Unranked Milbank finished a surprising playoff run with its first South Dakota Class 11A football championship earlier this month. And the champs landed two players on the 2009 Class 11A All-State football team, while several other teams had more. Making the team from Milbank are senior tight end Kyle Kunde and senior linebacker Dillon Dwyer. Ten of the 28 players on the all-state team are from teams that Milbank defeated in the playoffs. Runner-up St. Thomas More has six all-staters, while top-rated West Central, which lost to Sisseton in the first round of the playoffs, has three on the honor squad. Milbank head coach Jeremy Tostenson says his 10 seniors really didn't care about individual honors. In his words: "They just wanted to win football games. That shows the character of our team."
