The road crossing the Lake Darling Dam will be closed tomorrow while crews perform maintenance on critical parts of the dam.

Officially known as Ward County Road 6, the highway will close from 9am to 2pm Tuesday.

Upper Souris National Wildlife officials say the work on the dam will be to assure proper functioning of the gates that hold back water from Lake Darling.

Those gates played a key role in controlling spring flooding along the Mouse River this spring and officials say the idea of tomorrow's work is to make sure they're ready for use again next spring.
