If you are a listener of 710 AM the Fan you will notice some changes on Monday.  Station marketing manager, Bob Denver, has confirmed they will no longer be airing any KFAN programming.  These shows such as PA and Dubay and The Common Man Program come out of Minneapolis .  Denver says the reason for the change is Clear Channel wants the new owner of the  Bismarck station to pay a monthly fee for the KFAN shows.  Denver says he has never heard of this kind of arrangement.  So he decided to pull the plug on the KFAN programming and replace it with ESPN the Radio.  You will now hear shows like Mike and Mike in the Morning, the Dan Patrick Show, the Herd with Collin Cowherd and many more.  If you enjoy listening to Minnesota Twins and Vikings games you don’t have to worry.  Denver says they still have the contract for these games

Or maybe that is just a yearly fee instead of month to month, and month to month would be too expensive?

Posted by Too Bad on Apr 13 2007 3:51PM - I think losing KFAN is horrible. That is the only morning programming worth listening to in this market. Oh well...I guess theres always Imus...Oops I meant XM.

Posted by ndvikesfn on Apr 13 2007 8:37PM - Pay them what ever they want!!! Does Mr Denver realize what he just did to his radio listners? I along with many of my friends never took our radio off of 710. As a sports fan the shows on KFAN our some of the best and there is nothing else for us to compare this too. I guess as of April 16th the decision to activate my sirius radio was made with help from Mr Denver. Way to give your listners something they cant get somewhere else.

Posted by MarkO on Apr 16 2007 12:22PM - I just unprogrammed 710 AM from my radio. When KFAN was on 710 it was the only station I listened to. I hope Mr. Denver loses more in advertising $$ then it would cost to broadcast KFAN. I know I won't be listening to boring programming that's now on there.

Posted by Long Time Listener on Apr 16 2007 10:44PM - This is unbelievable. I listened to KFAN in the morning over breakfast, on the way to work, on the way home from work. Road trips, hunting, etc. There was always variety: sports, politics, comedy. Always something worth listening to. I listened, and I say that loosely, to ESPN Radio this morning. Not tje worst thing I listened too, but bad. The noon show, however, was really "really" terrible. I refuse to listen to this garbage. I would rather listen to public radio.

Posted by The Fan Fan on Apr 17 2007 1:07PM - I agree with all the comments above! I never listen to the FM side, always 710!!! Thanks for nothing Bob Denver!!!

Posted by 710 No more Guy on Apr 18 2007 10:00PM - Bad move, I cant belive this. I will miss the Super Star, and PA and Dubay. I thought this was Viking country?

Posted by Scotty on Apr 19 2007 11:52AM - I am done listening to 710, you have cost yourself a lot of listeners, and hopefully advertisers. You can find ESPN radio on any sattelite service, or just turn on ESPN 2 in the morning. This was a real creative move on Gilligans part. Good Luck you will need it!!!

Posted by TonyG on Apr 19 2007 3:53PM - The boys over at Clear Channel Bismarck aren't very bright it seems. The FAN was the best station they had and they killed it for the much overrated ESPN Radio.

Posted by NickW on Apr 19 2007 8:51PM - I can't believe that they made this decision. I thought I'd give it a try this week, but that syndicated ESPN stuff is just no good in comparison. I miss the local flavor big time. Pay the fee, can't be that bad, and pass that on to the advertisers if the station can't cut it. No more 710 for this guy...XM is looking pretty good right now.

There's a concept...paying a fee for some really good radio...Wow!
