Radio station to change some sports programmingApr 12 2007 7:05PM
KXMBTV Bismarck There is a change coming to your radio dial. As of Monday morning the local 710 AM station will not be airing any shows from K-FAN out of Minneapolis. This includes the P-A and Dubay Show and the Common Man Program. The time slots will be filled with ESPN Radio. Marketing manager, Bob Denver says the reason for the change is because Clear Channel wants the new owner to pay a monthly fee to carry the K-FAN programming. Denver says the change will not affect the airing of Twins and Vikings games.

There is no other radio I listen to besides 710 The Fan!!!
BRING THEM BACK!!!!
The only reason I listened to 710 was because of the in-depth Vikings and Twins commentary (PA and Dubay, Dan Berrero)and the off-beat humor of The Common Man. Now I have nothing to listen to and refuse to listen to that over-produced, sterile, corporate, coastal garbage known as ESPN Radio
Who is charging the extra fee?? KFAN or Clear channel? You gotta bring back the fan!!
I travel a lot and KFAN was sure a great companion on the road..the new ESPN radio really sucks.
BRING BACK THE FAN!!!!!!!
There are so many rumors about that 740 station as well, no one knows for sure what format they will have.
Not holding out much hope about the FAN on KKAG 740 anymore, in spite of what Bob Denver himself told me when I called (people, keep calling maybe it'll help. Point him to the comments here). This article was on www.northpine.com, the big regional radio/TV site, in November:
NORTH DAKOTA/MINNESOTA:
New station KKAG/740 (Fargo) continues testing, and has been heard recently with Classic Country music. KKAG, owned by Jeffrey G. Dress, will use 50kW day, 7.5kW during critical hours (near sunrise/sunset), and 940W at night, with different day and night directional patterns from six towers between Glyndon and Felton, MN. (11/19/2006)
They made a BIG DEAL about KKAG having the 5th most powerful AM signal in the United States, and that it will be heard throughout ND, SD and MN. You can tune to it now to see if you can hear it (it's broadcasting country music until the sale becomes final in 90-120 days.) This is great news for FAN fans (redundant?!) in western ND.
The "old" home for The FAN in Fargo, KVOX, is being sold to a Catholic radio network.
This past weekend, I got 740 in Dickinson at night. If you go to Radio-location.com and look up KKAG, they have some coverage maps that show how strong the station is.
NORTH DAKOTA/MINNESOTA:
(Updated) James Ingstad's Radio Fargo Moorhead announced Monday (6/11) it's buying KKAG/740 (Fargo), and would move FAN Network and FOX Sports Radio programming to 740 from KVOX/1280 (Moorhead). Radio Fargo Moorhead will pay Jeffrey G. Dress $850,000 for KKAG, a new station which has been reported on the air intermittently with Classic Country music. The station uses 50kW daytime, but must drop to 7.5kW in the hours after sunrise and before sunset, and to 940W at night, though all three power levels provide a strong signal to the Fargo-Moorhead area (click here for maps). Radio Fargo Moorhead is also selling KVOX to the Voice of Reason Radio, a Catholic group, for $200,000. VRR will provide Ingstad with a receipt noting a $1.23 million charitable donation, representing the difference between the purchase price and the fair market value of KVOX. Radio Fargo Moorhead also agreed to donate $100,000 in advertising time to VRR. (6/11/2007, updated 6/12)
