McNair in US Custody

A Canadian official says Richard McNair, who was one of the nation's most wanted fugitives before he was captured last month, is now in U-S custody

Jennifer Morrison is a spokeswoman for the Canada Border Services Agency....she says that McNair was brought to the U.S.-Canadian border yesterday morning

Morrison says McNair was met at the border by U.S. marshals. She says she does not know where he was taken from there

The 48-year-old McNair was captured last month in New Brunswick. He had escaped from a federal prison in Louisiana in April 2006. It was his third escape from confinement. McNair was serving life in prison for a murder in Minot. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list

Think of all the man power hours that were lost pursuing this killer who will no doubt escape again someday. Buy that mountie a cold beer.

Posted by fossilman on Nov 13 2007 9:00AM - The dude is worthless,he should have been on death row!!!

Posted by The Truth on Nov 13 2007 11:15AM - The death penalty was abolished when North Dakota's new criminal code became effective, July 1, 1975. The 1995 North Dakota legislature considered reinstituting the death penalty. The bill was defeated, following arguments based on morality and economics. If you don’t like our current law, stop whining about it and do something. Otherwise, you're part of the problem.

Posted by Scooby on Nov 13 2007 6:45PM - I know ND doesn't have the Death Penalty. If they did then MR. Houdini, Richard Lee McNair still wouldn't be play, "Catch Me if You Can." The next time he escapes, (and he will) you better pray that he doesn't kill anybody else. To him, killing is like you and I eating a cheese sandwich. It doesn't bother him a bit. What does he have to lose by killing anybody else!!!? Absolutely nothing Mr. Posted by the Truth. McNair is a psychopath!!! Ask the warden at the NDSP if you don't believe me. His name is Tim Schuetzle

Posted by The Truth on Nov 13 2007 7:31PM - Hey Scooby, how many people did he kill while he was out this time? How about the time before that? Go ahead, be honest. That's right, none. Guess that blows your stupid theory out of the water. And what's this "and he will" escape again crap? You got a crystal ball? You obviously don’t know the difference between an opinion and a fact. And BTW, my original post was to fossilman why seems to think we have a "death row".

Posted by scooby on Nov 13 2007 11:55PM - Okay "posted by the truth" you put me in my place. But you need to know something...I also did time at NDSP for murder and I knew Richard McNair real well...We worked together on the prison newspaper, "The Inside Times" I killed Darrin Anderson on 12/31/86 in Grand Forks. If you think I'm jerking your chain, ask the warden at NDSP about me...Scooby. Richard McNair killed in a cold-blooded sober state. I at least had an excuse...I was wasted and I will never kill again. But you're right, I have no Crystal Ball!

Posted by AD on Nov 14 2007 4:14PM - SOME EXCUSE SCOOBY! LETS PUT YOU UP FOR SAINTHOOD!

Posted by Gwen on Nov 14 2007 10:46PM - You had an excuse for murder?

Posted by Scooby/Dan Daugherty on Nov 14 2007 11:10PM - We all make mistakes Gwen...and I'm at least trying to better myself in this world. I graduated from Bible College and I will spend the rest of my life trying to help others. I only spent 20 years at NDSP because it was a drunken fight that went too far. I didn't go outside and ambush somebody in cold blood. I coped to what I did and pled guilty and did my 20 years like a man. I can't undo the past, I can only better myself and move on. Would you want me for a neighbor or McNair...I rest my case. God Bless You!

Posted by AD on Nov 15 2007 12:39PM - What a man you are to admit that your murdering someone was a "mistake". How big of you. So what, you went on to school to better yourself...the rest of society should throw you a parade I guess...never mind the thousands of people who make that decision and do the work daily WITHOUT MURDERING SOMEONE...your the example I should point out for children to emulate...

As for your neighbor comment, your rested case is weak. If I was forced to choose between two murderers, I'd move to the country!

Posted by Scooby/Dan Daugherty on Nov 15 2007 2:47PM - I at least have the guts to sign my real name"AD"! Don't be scared! I'm 1500 miles away from you trying to help disabled people with their Bible Studies and Meals on Wheels Project. Hey, I know you don't like me...but somehow, someway, I'll try to keep up my will to live. "Those who hate you can not win unless you hate them....then you destroy yourself."( Richatd Nixon 1968) I will not bring myself down to your level....so berate me all you want if it makes you feel like a better outstanding citizen. God Bless You!

Posted by AD on Nov 15 2007 9:45PM - Scooby/Dan Im not scared nor do I have to prove myself to you so your baiting little game dosnt phase me.

I dont hate you. Im disgusted by you. There is a difference. You act as if you should be praised for what you have done subsequent to murdering a man. I cant seem to bring myself to do that and heres why.

Your so called taking your sentence like a man is laughable. Simply being there doesnt mean you've taken responsiblity or manned up. You would have been in court and prision regardless of your supposed intent to take responsiblity for your actions. You get no man points for showing up. I have little faith in your contrition due to your repeated minimization of your crime. Lets review shall we. Your drunken escapade resulting in the murder of Darrin Anderson was in your words an "excuse" for a "mistake". Your words of minimization are evidence of your lack of any real sense responsiblity. You said you did time in the NDSP for Murder. Murder is what the State called what you did...you said you "killed" Darrin. The use of the word killed in this regared too is minimization as not all killing is Murder or even illegal in many cases...You have never manned up enough to say I murdered a man due to my decision to abuse alcohol..no you just pointed out a man who commited his murder "in cold blood". Almost as a justification, you point out worse behavior to explain your own bad behavior....newsflash theres always someone worse.

So you've moved on to spreading the word of God and help feed people. Good for you thats a worthy pursuit. And you are no more worthy of praise for doing this than anyone else who didnt MURDER some one who does this.

Im not berating you, Im just not in any mood to sing your praises for doing what you should have been doing to begin with...living lawfully.

God Bless You too, and hopefully you will one day realize the severity of your murder and truly be repentant. It will show in how you choose your words.

Posted by Gwen on Nov 15 2007 11:39PM - In your first post you're upset because they didn't excute Richard for murder (you're one) and you want to buy that mountie a cold beer. Now you're teaching the Bible & feeding the poor?

Posted by Ernie on Nov 15 2007 11:57PM - Dan, Satan was arguing over wanting a corpse. Who’s corpse was it and who was he arguing with?

Posted by Scooby/DanDaugherty on Nov 16 2007 1:05PM - Okay AD I wave the white flag...the points you raised were solid. But I feel like we're beating a dead horse here. (Or I should I say murdered?) Gwen: Where did I say that Richard McNair should be executed? Go back and read the text carefully...I said "Had" At the risk of upsetting AD again I'll say this...If North Dakota had the dealth penalty, I wouldn't have qualified because I didn't receive the maximum penalty allowed by law...McNair on the other hand received a life sentence compared to my 30 years which I did an actual 20 years. McNair would have been eligible for the death penalty...I would have not. The part about buying that mountie a cold beer was symbolic! As a Christian, I don't drink nor do I endorse drinking. The last time I got drunk I killed a man...sorry AD...I murdered a man. I do help disabled people here in GA with their meals on wheels project but not before telling them about Christ...and sharing some of my favorite Bible Verses. God Bless all of you...and maybe one day you'll even learn to respect me. Ernie...you're in dire need of professional help!

Posted by westcellhouse on Nov 16 2007 2:18PM - Well Scooby I'm glad that you are staying active. I'll never forget the time i made you come in from the yard because of a Ice hockey injury. Just keep doing good. The place is abit different without your odd sense of humor!! To coin a phrase from Young Frankenstein "This is a Good Boy" Hang in there!!

Posted by Ernie on Nov 16 2007 4:37PM - Just following 1Thessalonians 5:21 and testing your word. You say you graduated from Bible College and spent 20 years in prison. It’s an easy question for anyone who as a minimum should have read the Bible at least once. Based on your answer, I’m guessing not.

Posted by Anonymous on Nov 16 2007 9:34PM - Now, getting back to the subject of this article. I just hope that McNair can be kept behind bars this time. He is a sneaky and cunning animal. He is nothing more. Yes, I do support the death penalty. But, I know that ND doesn't have it.

If they have to chain him to the concrete, then do it. Oh, I forgot that it would be against his rights. That poor truck driver and his family were not given any rights.

Posted by Ernie on Nov 18 2007 9:08AM - Find it yet Scooby?
