State mill manager says no Canadian wheat purchased yet...Feb 26 2008 1:32PM
Associated Press (Al Gustin, KFYR, Bismarck) BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) North Dakota's mill manager says he has not had to buy any Canadian wheat yet. Earlier this month, Vance Taylor got permission from the state Industrial Commission to buy Canadian wheat if it was needed because of an extremely tight supply situation in this country. The idea upset state wheat producer groups. Taylor says he's seen a good response from farmers and elevators across the state in searching for domestic wheat. And he says there's a good chance he won't have to look to Canada. Taylor says the mill has had to bring in more rail cars than usual. He says the state-owned mill grinds between one and a-half and 2-million bushels of wheat a month, depending on the time of year. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
