Injured climber, 16, rescued by helicopter in Grand Teton...Jun 25 2008 7:16PM
Associated Press Moose, Wyo. (AP) Rescuers used a helicopter to pluck an injured 16-year-old climber off Teewinot Mountain in Grand Teton National Park. Park officials say the girl was descending the mountain with two other climbers Tuesday when she slipped on snow and tumbled about 300 feet down the mountainside. She was wearing a helmet but the fall injured her hip, elbow and ankle. Park rangers decided to use a helicopter to rescue the girl because of the location of the accident at 11,000 feet. Also, the terrain was rough. The girl was treated at a hospital and released. Park officials say the girl is from Albuquerque, N.M. Her name wasn't released because of her young age.
