1965 Comet found in riverAug 5 2008 6:53AM
Associated Press PIERRE, S.D. (AP) An old station wagon that's been missing for 28 years has been found 10-feet deep in the Missouri River at Pierre. Game, Fish and Parks Department employees discovered the wreck while testing side-scanning sonar. Hughes County Sheriff Mike Leidholt (LYD'-hohlt) says the last owner of the 1965 Mercury Comet was tracked down, but he says the car was stolen. Leidholt says officials can't find any stolen-car report. The derelict car will be pulled from the river to see if there's any evidence of wrongdoing, but the sheriff says it's unlikely to yield any answers.
