Dollars for ScholarsSep 28 2008 12:06AM
KXMBTV Bismarck 87-year-old Doctor Irving Fradkin spoke to a crowd of nearly 200 volunteers from North Dakota Communities. There are now 1300 chapters in 42 states. He says North Dakota and the Bank of North Dakota are making history. "Believe it or not 80 chapters founded, 20 million dollars raised, never been done in the history of America that a dollar has generated 200 additional dollars, what an example for the rest of America to follow." says Dr. Irving A. Fradkin/Founder of Dollars for Scholars. Dr. Fradkin feels that a change is necessary in order to get kids to go to school as well as stay in school. 100 percent of the dollars raised by a chapter stays in that communtiy and goes to students from that school. "Can you imagine whn you have people dropping out of school, dropping out of college, 50% of drops from junior colleges throughout america. We can change that." Dollars for Scholars first began in 1962 in North Dakota. To learn more about North Dakota's Dollars for Scholars program you can log on to www.nddfs.org.
