Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Casselton

A construction company is being applauded for its work in helping catch illegal immigrants working at an ethanol plant in Casselton.

23 people, all from India, are in jail right now awaiting a hearing later this week.

The company that hired the workers, Wanzek Construction, is in fact being thanked for helping the government.

U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley says the workers had fake documents that appeared legal until Wanzek dug deeper and brought its concerns to the government's attention.

This investigation started a couple weeks after the people were hired two and a half months ago.

They are being charged with felony possession of counterfeit documents...

(Drew Wrigley, US Attorney) "they each provided the false Social Security card, or the counterfeit social security card, an second, interestingly, each of these people also provided a state drivers license. I want to stress from the beginning, none of these are North Dakota drivers' licenses."

The federal government arrested all 23 people today without incident. | save this article / add to your favorites list
