Monitoring Future Flooding

There's a lot of eyes on the snowstorm especially at the National Weather Service...

Bill Abeling is tasked with watching the precipitation that comes with the blizzard.

Most of the southcentral area of North Dakota will get 15-20 inches of snow.

Abeling's concern is that will cause more water to melt and flow into the tributaries of the Missouri River...

(Bill Abeling / NWS Meterologist) "Ice jams are still a major concern. We want people to be prepared to take action if and when any rises occur in the tributaries or the missouri river itself."


Abeling says he's also watching the temperatures for later this week he says as of now we're not expecting the kind of temperatures that will cause fast melting.
