Pomeroy says charges against Roxana Saberi are baseless

Fargo, N.D. (AP) Congressman Earl Pomeroy says an espionage charge in Iran against Fargo journalist Roxana Saberi is baseless and he hopes it can be resolved as soon as possible.

A lawyer for Saberi confirmed the charge today. Pomeroy says he does not know details about how the Iranian justice system works.

But he says that if the case moves into the courts, in his words, "at least we know what we're dealing with." He says the state's congressional delegation will continue to press for Saberi's release. She's been held since January.
