Treasure ShowAug 5 2009 7:03PM
KXMBTV Bismarck Our Amber Schatz shows us what many people are trading in... to cash out. (Patrick Pins) "It's the color and shine and allure that's attracted people to it." Throughout history... the value of gold has gone through its ups and downs.. Right now... Treasure hunters say it's at a 40-year-high... All the more reason to sell.. (David Wright/Manager) "With us you can bring it in, sit down with a real person we tell you exactly how much it's worth, how much we can pay you." (Patrick Pins/Mandan) "Gold has always had historically has had a draw because of how brilliant it is, how shiny it is and that you can see it from the ground." Patrick Pins of Mandan says he got much more for the gold rings he brought in than he was expecting.. But as for his great-uncle's pocketwatch... He's holding out (Pins) "They say everything has a price you know, but sentimentality is tough too." (Wright) "There's always a story behind the ol' pocketwatch." Along with precious metals... treasure hunters with the roadshow look at vintage guitars, military memorabilia, advertising signs, anything people think might get them a few extra bucks Something that's not a surprise due to what many call... the pressing state of the economy After figuring out what your item is worth... treasure hunters can see how much their 6,000 online collectors would be willing to pay for something... and give out a check on the spot (Pins) "They're kind of rummaging around looking for things and kind of doing their own stimulus if you want to say by pulling things out and saying well I guess this is as good a time as ever to at least look at parting with it and maybe eventually getting rid of it if Price is Right." (Wright) "Whether it's broken gold jewelry, it's old vintage guitars... they can bring it in and take advantage of six thousand collectors we have." Not everyone here is looking to sell their hidden treasures... This couple from Flasher just wanted to see if their old toys are worth anything (Eunice and John Toman/Flasher) 4:20 "Some of them are worth something yes and so when we pass them on to our three daughters and grandsons, they know this came from grandma and grandpa's toybox... don't throw it away!" Amber Schatz, KX News. A few weeks ago... they gave someone in South Dakota a check for 100,000 dollars for a 1960s Les Paul guitar. The traveling Treasure Hunters Roadshow continues at the Doublewood through Sunday.
