Honor Flight ReturnsSep 20 2009 1:46PM
KXMBTV Bismarck They landed at the Bismarck Airport around 7:30 tonight. That's after a two-day trip to Washington D.C. Here are the 95 World War II veterans returning home tonight after traveling to the World War II memorial in Washington D-C. Veterans get to experience the memorial built in their honor for free, as part of the Roughrider Honor Flight. Hundreds of people greeted the veterans tonight... From a patriot band... and the patriot guard... to family, friends and volunteers of all ages. We caught up with three sisters here as a surprise to welcome back their brother... like they used to do when he was in the service. (Lucy Wangler/Wishek) "We used to go to Mandan when he would come home on furlough we would all hurry and get in to see the airport and until that plane landed you had goosebumps beyond your means, and today when we walked in here it was just unbelievable." (Bernie/Sister) "They were so quite about their years in the service for so long, that I think it's going to be putting closure on something they haven't talked about in the last 15-20 years, and I just think it's going to be the most exciting time they've ever had in their life." Reporter Brad Feldman was with the veterans for their emotional trip and will share their stories starting Tuesday... all next week.
