Agriculture is often thought of as a man's field... Sarah Gustin introduces us to one woman who knows the in's and out's of farming and ranching.

October 15th marks World Rural Women's Day

Kate Pfenning is one of many women actively involved in the family farming operation

(Kate Pfenning / Farm Woman) "It's just a wonderful career." As all farm women know...no matter what job needs to be done you better be ready to answer the call

(Kate Pfenning / Farm Woman) "If I applied for any job I think that I could get it on the basis of what we have to do on the farm. In the mornings, we have three young boys so we are a family and then we have chickens and we direct market the eggs and we have my lambs and we direct market the meat and then we have cattle, crop and a spray business. So there many. many hats being worn in our household at any one time." For Pfenning an office job just won't do. Instead she runs her business right from the pasture

Raising 350 ewes and marketing 700 lambs. (Kate Pfenning / Farm Woman) "I love working with all of it. Marketing my lamb is my passion, and I probably get a little too passionate about it at times." Even Pfenning admits not everyday on the farm is bright and sunny

You never seperate work and pleasure

(Kate Pfenning / Farm Woman) "We never stop eating, breathing or working. It's all business. We just have fun amongest it. Pfenning says no matter how much business goes on in the country...there's no better place better to raise a family
