KXMBTV Bismarck The band Blue Moon Rising is in Bismarck this weekend for a concert The members are also helping to teach local bluegrass players some tricks of the trade About 40 banjo, fiddle and mandolin players are taking advantage of the all day workshop Besides playing the instruments they are learning how to write music (Tim Tipton/ Blue Moon Rising): "Where we take a song that the band recorded and we take each individual instrument and we taken them to a class and we rehearse it and then we all come back together as an entire group and play the song together. It's pretty neat we have a lot of fun with that." Tipton says bluegrass music is not the type of music most people think about when they begin to play music However, he says in the past few years it's become one of the most popular styles of music. (Tim Tipton/ Blue Moon Rising): "In the last four to five years theres probably become even more popular with great bands like Allison Krause and Union Station and people like that that are in the country market as well." The Blue Moon Rising band is having a concert Saturday night at Bismarck State College It's being held in the Sydney J. Lee Auditorium at 7:30.
