VA Clinic Opens in WillistonFeb 21 2007 7:15PM
KXMCTV Minot But that's what veterans in the Williston region have had to do, until the last few weeks. Thanks to a new Veterans Administration outpatient clinic, area military vets have medical care right across town. Today, Congressman Earl Pomeroy joined local officials, veterans, and VA staff to cut the ribbon on the new clinic. Ray Folkestad of Williston was the first patient of the new clinic - and he appreciates the convenience... (Ray Folkestad, Williston)"I was driving 4 times a year to Fargo, 400 and some miles, 800 and some miles round trip, I was paying for my own motel rooms and my meals and mileage and so it really helped me a lot." (Robert McDivitt, Fargo VA Medical Center) "It's been a long time coming in Williston. We've very pleased to open the clinic here and provide access to veterans. We opened the clinic about two months ago and planned this event for several months and are really excited to formally christen the new clinic." The Williston outpatient clinic is the fourth now open in the state. Others are in Minot, Bismarck, and Grafton. New locations are also planned in Grand Forks, Dickinson, Jamestown, and Devils Lake.
