Moving Making in North DakotaDec 1 2009 7:01PM
KXMBTV Bismarck 21st century movie making is coming to North Dakota and it all starts with you. Reporter Sarah Gustin has the story. (Nate Anderson / Nodak Films) "From my understanding of friends who do the Hollywood route, you can really lose your vision if you sell your script to Hollywood and I don't want to lose that vision." Nate Anderson grew up in Plaza. He now lives in California But the true North Dakota spirit never left the producer and screen writers heart. Now Anderson is returning to his home state to create a movie about our heartland Last Summer for Boys (Nate Anderson / Nodak Films) "He leaves the combine for a cubicle. But the burdn of leaving the farm never left him. So he gets a job in Minneapolis, something happens to him and he endds up back in the small town of his youth in North Dakota. So there he struggles with the girl he left, the firend he lost touch with and the choices he is going to have to make for his future." Anderson is creating a movie industy where people contribute and then they are featured in the movie. About 190-thousand dollars is needed to bring the film to reality This is where you get your chance to become a star. (Nate Anderson / Nodak Films) "That 100 dollars basically says you are gonig to be in the movie as an individual, you are going to be in the movie as a business, you are going to be in the movie as a town. So that is bascially how we are financing the movie. In hope that these businesses, towns and people are going to see that we are trying to add value to North Dakota through a good North Dakota movie." (Dr. Brandon Price / Contributer) "Coming from North Dakota we are always looking for reasons and ways to promote our wonderful state, including the towns we come from. And this was a great way to do it. he is going to feature all these towns and everything is going to take place in Norh Dakota and I thought that was perfect." (Nate Boetcher / Contributer) "."The 100 dollars to Nate was part because of the enturperneral spirit that he has. The fact that he wants to make a movie in North Dakota, that he is going out and raising the money. This isn't some Hollywood production that is coming in that wants to set up camp in North Dakota for 6-8 weeks and then pull out of town and make the movie. This is something that Nate is truly passionate about." (Nate Anderson / Nodak Films) "I just want to make this movie. When I go through my down times of thinking, oh this is never going to work. And then I listen to a song that is going to be in the movie and then I say, oh that is good. And then maybe I will read the script and I will think, you know what, that is going to work too. I just know 100 percent, i bleive it that this is going to be a good movie and it is going to do real good for North Dakota." Anderson says casting will take place in February and the movie will be shot next summer He plans to release the movie in theathers and on DVD in 2011 In Bismarck for KX News I am Sarah Gustin."
